FAQ

Questions about working with a media agency

Straight answers about KBR, how we work and what it costs.

What is KBR?

KBR is an independent media and digital agency with teams in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand, founded in 2013. We plan, buy and measure media for brands across TV, BVOD, YouTube, search, social, programmatic, digital audio and outdoor, and deliver digital services including digital strategy, SEO and AI search optimisation, website design and development, brand strategy and design, and content production. We report results in terms of sales, leads and cost per acquisition.

What does a media agency do?

A media agency decides where your advertising should run, buys that media at the right price, and measures whether it worked. At KBR that means setting the strategy and budget split, planning and buying every channel, optimising campaigns weekly, and reporting how media spend connects to business results.

What digital services does KBR offer?

Digital strategy, SEO and generative engine optimisation (GEO) so your brand shows up in Google and AI answers, website design and development, brand strategy and design, and content production. These sit alongside our media services, so the media, the website and the content work as one system.

Is KBR independent?

Yes. KBR is not owned by a network or holding company, and is a certified member of AIMA (Aotearoa Independent Media Agencies). There are no network trading deals behind our recommendations, so we choose the channels and partners that suit your business.

Do you mark up media or take rebates?

No. We don't add media markups and we don't take hidden rebates. You see what your media actually costs.

Which channels does KBR plan and buy?

All of them, in one joined-up plan: TV and BVOD, YouTube and online video, search and shopping, social (Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, Reddit, X), programmatic display and native, high-impact formats, digital audio and podcasts, digital out of home and classic outdoor, and retail media.

Who does KBR work with?

Brands across finance, retail, insurance, property, health, education, government, travel and more, from national advertisers to growing businesses. Clients who trust KBR include Wegovy, Roche, MSD, NZ Home Loans, NZICC, Kāinga Ora, Bandai Namco and Ōpuke Thermal Pools.

Can KBR work alongside our in-house marketing team?

Yes. Many clients have in-house marketers. We plan and run the media, and explain our thinking as we go so your team understands what is working and why. Our free Education Engine supports that.

How does KBR report on results?

Through live dashboards, monthly reviews that link media performance to sales and leads, and quarterly growth sessions with scenario planning and a test roadmap. We also set up GA4 and conversion tracking properly so the numbers can be trusted.

Where is KBR based?

KBR has teams in Auckland and Christchurch, and works with brands throughout New Zealand and in Australia.

Does KBR have healthcare and pharmaceutical experience?

Yes. We have planned and bought media for Wegovy, MSD, Roche, LifePlus and others, with compliance-aware planning, structured approvals and responsible targeting for regulated categories.
